What this tool does
An AI deep-learning model automatically recognizes the subject in your photo (a person, object, animal, etc.), removes the background, and saves the result as a transparent PNG. You can also fine-tune the mask directly with a brush tool.
How to use
- Upload an image: Drag the image you want to process into the drop zone.
- Automatic processing: The AI automatically detects and removes the background. This takes a moment.
- Touch up the mask (optional): If the automatic result isn't quite right, use the brush tool to remove more or restore parts of the subject.
- Save: Download the PNG file with a transparent background.
Using the brush tool
- Erase brush: Drag over areas you want to remove (turn into background).
- Restore brush: Drag to bring back parts of the subject that were removed by mistake.
- Brush size: Adjust the thickness with the slider. Use a smaller size for fine detail work.

Limitations and things to know
- Subjects with unclear edges — hair, fur, sheer fabric, glass — may not be recognized as accurately by the automatic detection. Touch these up with the brush.
- If there is low color/brightness contrast between the subject and background, some areas may be mistakenly detected as background.
- The AI model (tens of MB) needs to be downloaded to your browser the first time you use this tool, so an internet connection is required and the first run takes longer. After that, it's reused from your browser cache.
- File size limit: 20MB on the Free plan, 50MB on Basic/Pro.

It varies with image size, but typically finishes within 2-10 seconds. The first run may take a bit longer since the AI model needs to load in your browser.
Can I replace the background with a different color?
Yes — after downloading the transparent PNG, you can composite it onto any background color or image using an image editing tool.
