Overview
Open PDF files right in your browser to read, annotate, edit and sign them. Work on multiple files at once using tabs, and encrypted PDFs are supported too.
Opening a file
- Click the Open button at the top, or drag a PDF file onto the page.
- Use the + button next to the tabs to open several PDFs at once.
- Encrypted PDFs open after you enter the password.
Editing tools
- Highlight: drag across text to highlight it with color
- Text box: add text anywhere on the page
- Rectangle / Circle: use shapes to call out a specific area
- Arrow: point to content with an arrow
- Pen: freehand drawing
- Insert image: add a photo or logo
- Signature: draw a signature with your mouse or touch and insert it (PRO)
Text recognition (OCR)
To recognize text in a scanned image PDF, use the OCR button at the top. You can then copy or search the recognized text.
Saving
- Save button: downloads a PDF with your annotations included to your device.
- Cloud button: on the PRO plan, save to and load from the cloud.
Limitations and notes
- OCR and signature features are PRO-plan only. Rotating and deleting pages also require edit mode.
- PDFs with print/copy/edit restrictions can still be opened without a password, but depending on the restriction you may only be able to add annotations — page deletion and rotation may be blocked.
- OCR loads Tesseract.js from an external CDN. On networks that block external CDN access, only OCR will fail — every other feature still works normally.
- Each file is limited to 50MB. PDFs with many pages or high-resolution scans may affect your browser's memory and speed.
FAQ
Are my edits saved to the original PDF?
No. Pressing Save downloads a new PDF file that includes your annotations — the original file is never changed.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Yes, you can open it after entering the password. However, PDFs with editing restrictions may only allow you to add annotations.
